Hello fellow riders! Today, we're taking a look at something special: a motorcycle smartscreen from Lamtto. Let's unpack this thing and see what it offers.
The packaging is appealing, and inside, we find the smartscreen, an instruction manual (English and Chinese), the mounting bracket, power cable (red for positive, black for negative), some mounting hardware (two self-locking hex nuts – wing nuts might have been a better choice), a screwdriver, extra nuts, a wrench, and some zip ties. I also added a USB-C cable (not included) for powering the device via my motorcycle's USB-C port, rather than directly from the battery.
Mounting the smartscreen is straightforward thanks to the included bracket, which is compatible with most motorcycles. I tested it on my Honda Interceptor, and it fit perfectly without obstructing the handlebars.
Connecting to your phone is also easy. Open the smartscreen's settings to find its name, then connect to it via Wi-Fi on your phone. The smartscreen uses Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, depending on your phone. Once connected, you can control almost all smartphone functions from the display.
The 7-inch screen provides a great view of navigation (Google Maps), audiobooks (Audible), music, phone contacts, and messaging. A particularly interesting feature is Dual Bluetooth, allowing you to connect two headsets for rider-to-passenger communication.
During my test ride, the screen's reflectivity was noticeable, although it wasn't overly distracting. The brightness is adjustable, and while I didn't change it during the ride, a higher setting might be preferable in bright sunlight. Navigation prompts were clear and timely, even without my glasses. The larger display makes navigation much easier than using a phone.
The mount held firm throughout the ride, despite not being tightened completely. While the USB power connection worked, a direct 12V battery connection is recommended for optimal stability.
The Lamtto smartscreen integrates well with the motorcycle's aesthetics, especially on modern bikes. Switching between functions while riding is seamless, but remember to prioritize road safety and avoid distractions.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Lamtto smartscreen, especially considering its price. It's currently on sale for 30% off its usual price of €198-€199. I've included the Amazon link in the video description. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below. Thanks for watching, and please subscribe and like!
