FAQs

My rear camera isn't displaying anything. What should I do?
Several factors can cause the rear camera to malfunction. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:
1.Check the Connection: Ensure the rear camera cable is securely plugged into both the camera and the main unit. A loose connection, often caused by vibrations during driving, can easily disrupt the video feed. Unplug and firmly reinsert the cable to ensure a proper connection.
2.Inspect the Wiring: Examine the rear camera cable for any signs of damage or wear. If the cable is faulty, it will need to be replaced. Contact customer support for assistance with obtaining a replacement cable.
3.Camera Damage: Prolonged exposure to vibrations can sometimes damage the rear camera itself. If you suspect camera damage, please contact customer support for warranty or repair options.
4.Power Supply: Verify the power supply to the dash cam is functioning correctly. If using the cigarette lighter adapter, try a different adapter or outlet. If hardwired, check the fuse and connections.
5.Battery Level (for Parking Mode): While the DC16 uses a supercapacitor for parking mode, ensure it's receiving sufficient power for continuous operation. If the vehicle's battery is low, the parking mode might not function correctly. The hardwiring kit is designed to prevent draining the car battery, but prolonged parking without driving can still deplete the battery over time.
6.Obstructions: Check for any obstructions blocking the rear camera's lens. Clean the lens if necessary.
Why my rear camera falling off after installation, and how can I fix it?
Several factors can cause the rear camera to detach after installation. Here's a breakdown of common causes and solutions:
1.Suction Cup Issues:
Cleanliness: A dirty suction cup or windshield will significantly reduce adhesion. Thoroughly clean both surfaces with a damp cloth, ensuring they are dry and free of dust, debris, and residue.
2.Moisture: A slightly damp suction cup can sometimes improve adhesion. Lightly moisten the suction cup with water before attaching it.
Suction Cup Quality: Over time, the suction cup may lose its effectiveness. Contact customer support for a replacement if you suspect a faulty suction cup.
3.Surface Type: The suction cup adheres best to smooth, non-porous surfaces. Ensure the mounting area on your rear windshield is suitable. Avoid textured or frosted areas.
4.Adhesive Mount:
Proper Application: If using an adhesive mount, ensure it's applied correctly to a clean, dry surface. Follow the included instructions carefully.
5.Temperature: Extreme temperatures can affect adhesive strength. Consider using a temperature-resistant adhesive mount designed for automotive use.
6.Cable Management:
Strain Relief: Make sure the rear camera cable isn't pulling or tugging on the camera itself. Proper cable management can prevent unnecessary strain on the mount. Secure the cable along its length to prevent it from dangling or being pulled.
7.Vibration and Road Conditions:
Excessive Vibrations: Rough roads and excessive vibrations can loosen the camera over time. Periodically check the camera's attachment to ensure it remains secure.
8.Mounting Location: Choose a mounting location that minimizes vibrations. Avoid areas prone to excessive movement or shaking.
9.Extreme Temperatures:
Heat: Excessive heat can weaken the suction cup or adhesive. Park in shaded areas whenever possible to minimize heat exposure. Consider using a sunshade to protect your vehicle's interior.
Cold: Extreme cold can also affect adhesion. Allow the vehicle to warm up before attaching the camera in cold weather.
My Dash cam seems to be skipping seconds or having gaps in the recordings. How can I fix this?
Here's a breakdown of common causes and solutions:
SD Card Issues:
Compatibility: The DC16 requires a high-speed microSD card (Class 10, U3 or higher) for optimal performance. Using an incompatible or lower-speed card can lead to dropped frames or recording gaps. Ensure you're using a compatible card.
Formatting: Incorrect formatting can also cause issues. Format the SD card in the dash cam itself (check the device's menu) or format it on a computer using the FAT32 file system. Important: Formatting will erase all data on the SD card.
Card Errors: SD cards can develop errors over time. Try a different, known-good SD card to see if the issue persists. If the problem is resolved with a new card, the original card likely needs replacing.
Storage Capacity: If the card is nearly full, the dash cam might struggle to write data quickly enough, leading to gaps. Ensure sufficient free space on the SD card. Consider using a larger capacity card if necessary.
Loop Recording Settings:
Segment Length: Shorter loop recording segments (e.g., 1 minute) can sometimes create the appearance of gaps during file transitions. Try increasing the segment length (e.g., to 3 or 5 minutes) to see if this resolves the issue. However, longer segments can make it harder to pinpoint specific events in the recordings.
Firmware Updates:
Outdated Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause performance issues, including recording gaps.
Insufficient Power: In rare cases, an inconsistent power supply can disrupt recording. Ensure the dash cam is receiving stable power. If using the cigarette lighter adapter, try a different adapter or outlet. If hardwired, check the connections and fuse.
My decice isn't saving recordings to the SD card. What should I do?
Here's a troubleshooting guide:
SD Card Compatibility and Formatting:
U3 Speed and 256GB Capacity: Ensure your microSD card is U3 or higher speed. Using an incompatible or slower card can prevent recordings. Always format the SD card in the dash cam itself before initial use. This ensures proper compatibility and file system structure.
Formatting Issues (Even with Compatible Cards):
Format in Dash Cam (Recommended): Even with a compatible card, formatting issues can arise. The most reliable method is to format the SD card directly within the DC16. Consult your user manual for the specific steps to format the card using the device's menu. Important: Formatting will erase all data on the SD card.
SD Card Errors:
Physical Damage: Inspect the SD card for any physical damage, such as bent connectors or scratches. These can prevent the card from functioning correctly.
Card Failure: SD cards can fail over time. Try a different, known-good microSD card in the DC16. If the new card works, the original card likely needs replacing.
Write-Protection:
Lock Switch: Some SD cards have a physical lock switch. Make sure this switch is in the unlocked position (typically indicated by the switch being positioned away from the "lock" label).
Dash Cam Settings:
Resolution/Frame Rate: Higher resolution and frame rate settings require more storage space and faster write speeds. If experiencing issues, try reducing these settings in the dash cam's menu to see if it resolves the problem.
Loop Recording: Confirm that loop recording is enabled in the dash cam's settings. This feature overwrites the oldest recordings when the card becomes full, allowing for continuous recording.
Power Cycle the Dash Cam:
Restart: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches. Unplug the dash cam's power cable, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in.
Firmware Update:
Check for Updates: Outdated firmware can occasionally cause unexpected issues. Visit the manufacturer's website to check for the latest firmware version for your DC16. Follow the provided instructions to update the device.
